Thank you for everything you have taught

Two years ago I adopted a terrier mix
puppy from Louisiana.  I needed to
teach this little terrier puppy to come
when called.  I hired two separate
trainers to help me but I got no where.
I met one of Betty's former students
and I was so impressed at how well
trained her dogs were that I decided to
enroll into Betty's classes.  My dog
joyfully back to me every time I call!!
Betty has turned so many dog's lives
around!  Betty trains with compassion,
skill and exceptional knowledge of dog
behavior.  I recommend Betty to
everyone!

Betty has taught dog training and
behavior modification within our
community for the past thirty years.
She is one of our states most
popular and effective trainers and
many years ago after my family
adopted an American Staffordshire
Terrier.  That same year I had been
to 3 other trainers, all without
success.  While at my wits end, a
friend of mine, who is a shelter
director in RI, recommended Betty,
speaking very highly about her
positive training techniques.  Betty
happily accepted us into her
explaining what techniques we
needed to work on in order to
address our dogs needs.
Today I am happy to say that my
dog is a therapy dog, thanks to
Betty's exceptional instruction,
skills and understanding of dog
behavior!

I enrolled into Betty's classes with
my Norwich Terrier and took 8
lessons.  My dog pulled on the
leash so badly that he would drag
me down the street. After a couple
of lessons under Betty's skilled
instruction, his pulling stopped
and I now enjoy taking him for a
walk everyday.  I would highly
recommend Betty as she is
extremely talented and
professional!

Betty is an outstanding dog
Whisperer!  Over the last 9 years I
have trained 3 dogs under Betty's
guidance with great success.  All 3
of my dogs have excellent
behavior both in and out of my
home.  All three of my dogs have
excellent behavior with people
and other dogs.  Every dog that I
have seen interacts well with
Betty, they respond positively to
her enthusiastic approach!

Betty, I can't thank you enough.  I
have met a few positive
reinforcement trainers but I have
never met anyone as sharp and
comprehensive as you!!  Others
have taught me how to have your
dog sit, stay, down, etc. but
nobody approaches dog language,
signals, personalities and
generally reading your dog and
getting ultimately what you want.
You are truly gifted!  Thank you!

Betty, should you ever decide that
you want an apprentice, please
pick me!  I cannot say enough
about your ability to train dogs!  I
think what stands out the most is
that you have developed a class
content that uses the most
positive and effective means of
training from a number of
methods.  You are well read in
your field!  My dogs behavioral
issues improved beyond what I
thought possible!

I have trained all four of my
Airdales with Betty and I am proud
to say that I can take all four of
them anywhere I go! Betty's ability
and patience has allowed me the
opportunity to have four well
behaved dogs in my life.

Dear Betty,

Thank you for all the great training!

I don't know what would have become of my Golden, if not for Betty!
With time, patience and her guidance, he has turned into such a well
trained dog!  My female Golden was nervous around other dogs. She
would hang her tail, drool and sometimes shake.  I enrolled her into
Betty's Environmental Enrichment Walking and Swimming Programs
and now she no longer exhibits any anxiety, instead she wags her tail
proudly and loves to walk and swim with the other dogs!  Just
knowing that Betty is there to help, means everything!

Betty, I have been with you for over 14 years and you still amaze me with your skill and find a way,
each and every time, to address the dogs needs and allow the owner to understand "why" their dog
is doing what they are doing.  The time and patience that you give each individual student shows
your dedication and love of dogs.  Working with people and dogs is certainly your element, passion
and forte' and it definitely shows from the beginning to the end!  I have never seen you ever, ever
turn a dog away!  It amazes me how dogs are attracted to you like a magnet within minutes of
meeting you.  Betty, your skills, passion and knowledge cannot be put into enough words.  Thank you
for all you do for the love of dogs.

I want to thank you for opening my heart and eyes to the wonderful world of dogs!

I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for teaching me to train all four of my wonderful
dogs to perfection!

" In loving memory of a very dear student and friend, always in my heart, on my mind and at my side
on the field forever"
I have participated in and observed
Betty's classes for 18 years and she
never fails to amaze me. She is always
up to date on all the training
techniques that  are out there, both
the effective ones and those that are
harmful. She helps an owner recognize
how their dog thinks and how to tap
into its behavior to get the best
training outcome, a well behaved dog
and a happy owner. I have six shelties
and none of them think the same way
as any of the others.  I have had to
learn what motivates each of them and
what motivates all of them so we have
a harmonious home and a great time
walking together. Now if they would
only learn to stop moving the area rugs
around!

My black lab Bailey has been trained exclusively with
Betty's TLC Dog Training since he was 4 months old.
I was so impressed with how my dog responded to
Betty's training, I continued taking classes with her,
and still do.  After completing basic obedience
training with Betty, Bailey was tested and passed the
Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test.   I continued
training with Betty's TLC and last winter, Bailey was
certified to perform therapy work through the Delta
Society.  Because of all the work I have done with
Betty's TLC, Bailey and I are now participating in a
Reading program in the Middletown Elementary
schools to help children become better readers!  I
have also done Betty's enrichment programs with
Bailey.  These programs are great to socialize your
dog with other dogs and people.  We did the Walk
Program for 8 weeks where Bailey learned to walk
through crowds of people on a loose leash and get
great exercise at the same time.  Additionally, Bailey
has done the water dog program twice.  He was
apprehensive about the water at first, but now he
swims with my son and is so confident in the water!  I
would recommend Betty's TLC to anyone who wants
a well behaved dog at home or out in public, who
walks on a loose leash, and most importantly, who
comes when called!

I cannot thank Betty Laurin enough for all that she has
done for me and my “babies” (Vinnie, Lulu, and Pearl).
The socialization walks, orchestrated by Betty, provide the
most unique, innovative, and successful way of “training”
dogs that I have ever seen.  The positive results can be
seen during the very first outing.  The natural structure of
dog owners walking their dogs, in beautiful and pleasant
surroundings, provides the opportunity to enhance the
learning process for each individual dog throughout the
walk-play-swim “class.”  Furthermore,as a psychiatric
nurse, I can fully attest to the therapeutic process that this
form of learning provides for both the dog, and the dog-
owner, even  after a hectic day at work. By the end of the
walk, the transformation is complete. It is dog-training, it is
relaxation therapy, it is problem-solving, and it is
connecting with others. It is Joy and Bliss and lots of
Laughter. This is the best deal in Rhode Island!

of control.  He was impossible to walk and the word “no”
meant “attack your owner” to him.  He just hated that
word.  We started with the Saturday drop in class and
then enlisted in the “environmental enrichment walk”.
The walks were a great way for Scully to socialize and
learn manners.  He enjoyed walking with a pack and it had
a calming effect on him. When a injury sidelined me for
several weeks Betty was kind enough to take Scully for
his Saturday walk.  I don’t know of any other trainer that
would do that.  She did it because she truly cares about
dogs.  We went on to the formal class setting and finished
all three levels of training.
I now have a much better behaved dog then I had prior to
meeting Betty.  Scully’s life has also improved because he
would have been a “back yard” dog  and instead he’s my
constant companion.

Thank you Betty
